– Freedoms. Our constitution defines what the limited government can do; otherwise, it cannot do it. Rights start as something the people own from our Maker, not something the government gives to us. I believe that makes the US constitution unique, for other countries define what rights you have. Does your country state a Freedom of Speech? Most do. The US constitution does not. Surprised? Our constitution says our government shall not abridge the people’s free speech. Stuble distinction, but quite important. I already have the right of free speech, my government never gave it to me. They are prohibited from trying to take it away. Yours might amend its rights or limit them. Mine cannot.

Is America perfect? Absolutely not. Are some countries better in certain aspects? Absolutely. Is there any way to objectively weight these aspects to rank the countries? No. Every individual will give each aspect a different weighting and find for themselves which nation they consider “Number One.”

As for me, I can claim the Unitied States of America as number one until YOU prove otherwise. Your proof has to every aspect of what makes a nation. You then have to assign weightings to those aspects. If I disagree withthe weightings, we re-adjust. Then we determine which country ranks as number one – for us two. for a third party will disagree with the wieghtings, and we are unlikely to find a common set of weightings for all people.

I am an American and I cannot say that America is number one. Maybe at one point in time, speaking in terms of military power, this country may have been number one, but I do not even think that is correct anymore. America has its problems, no doubt, but I still like my country, because I can say these things without fearing being imprisoned or worse. I still like my country because I have some basic freedoms.
