Would you become an Engineer or a Mechanic?

I am 22. I just like to work on cars and transportation.

Im just about finishing a 2 year mechanical technology Advanced Diploma. Now I am qualified to work as a

co-Engineer (Mechanical)

Thinking between going to Uni to become a Mechanical Engineer(Another 3-3.5 years) or Starting an Automotive course(2 years) which makes me an Automotive mechanic while working for a Mechanic shop.

My parents pushing me to become an Engineer in Uni but I know that I am too lazy to study anymore. Well I never enjoyed studying.

ie; My average in Adv Diploma is just a pass.

I know that this descition will make a life time of difference. Would like to know about your thoughts.

If you like working on cars and don’t like school, then be a mechanic. It’s good honest work, and you’ll make a lot of money.

Don’t buy into the myth that you need a degree to be a success. Because of this incorrect attitude, it’s almost impossible to find good skilled labor like mechanics, plumbers, electricians and carpenters in almost every industrialized country. But fortunately for you, if you decide to be a mechanic, this shortage just pushes the wages up for the few people who can do this kind of work.
