Would a Bachelor Degree, be considered the “norm?”?

Please share any links etc that you may have to back. Also can the norm be categorized by demographic, race..Is it the “norm” for African Americans to have a Bachelor degree? Btw…I am Black. There’s a conflict with a relative and I over this issue. Please facts only. Thanks!

A college Bachelor Degree is the new high school diploma. If you want to have a chance at getting a good job with good pay, you’re looking at attending graduate school.

My only piece of advice: I’ve had alot of friends graduate college with bachelors degrees and not find gainful employment. It really depends on what the field is. I’ve had two friends who work at Starbucks who hold bachelors (one in English, one in Psychology), and another friend who only makes about $9.75 an hour at a newspaper with her bachelors in English. I know plenty of cooks who have bachelors in Psychology as well.

I’m not trying to discourage you from college, but you should put alot of thought and consideration into what field you’re going to major in, explore the possible job market, and consider if you’d be happy doing that type of profession. I’m actually going back for my bachelors in biology right now (field ecology has always been interesting to me, as well as possibly going to law school after undergrad).

I think bachelors degrees are somewhat the norm now. If you really like school thuogh, consider graudate work.
