withdrawal?

This is my first year in college. My teacher said we can only miss 2days, but I missed 3days, and I been tardy alot. I didnt know tardys also count b/c i was told in college they dont count tardys.

But should I withdraw from the class or just wait til she drop me?

I heard with a withdraw you can take the class again without getting a failing grade. But im not sure about what happens when a teacher drop you. So can you please help me b/c Im not sure what I should do

Take a moment to speak with your teacher and ask him or her about your progress. If your teacher feels that you are better off trying the class another semester, go to your registration office and submit a withdrawal form. Make sure that you do it yourself, because you can not count on a teacher to do it for you. (You may end up with a F instead of a W) W do not usually hurt your transcripts, and you can retake the class. If you withdraw early enough, the class wont even show up on your transcripts. If a teacher withdraws you, its the same thing.

The reason you should talk to your teacher first is: sometimes they only put the attendance requirement there because they have to, if you are keeping up with all of your work and doing well otherwise, most college teachers wont really care if you missed one or two more days. (But there are some teachers that are anal about attendance and even if you submit A papers the entire semester, they still drop you for attendance. /endgrudge) But, if you aren’t doing well in your class, you may want to drop before it is too late.

First off, the “2 days” rule may well be an empty threat. I’m a professor and I certainly can not “drop” a student on my say so. It is the Registrar who says who is or is not in a class. Next, the deadline for dropping a class without a penalty may or may not have passed; you better check that. But you may also very likely get away with this. If the professor has said and done nothing you might well just keep going to class.

I would talk to the professor about it to see what your current grade in the class is. If you are going to fail because of missed days, I would strongly suggest you drop the class to avoid a failing grade. It will show up as a withdraw on your transcript, but you can retake the class later. Just be sure before you drop it that if you are getting financial aid/loans/etc. that you will still be enrolled in enough credit hours to qualify. If you drop below full-time status, they can revoke your financial aid. Good luck!
