why am i not aloud to get my GED?

I live in the state OR and am 14 a couple of weeks ago my brother (16) got his GED so he could start college while they were there they checked to see if i could get mine as well because its really easy. so they went there and found out they require you to be 16! im personally frustrated isnt against the law to prevent me from getting higher education?

heh, no, there is no law guaranteeing you the ability to get higher education (which you’re not trying to get anyway, an apprenticeship is not a degree), and its up to the colleges to decide to let you in.

In Oregon you are legally required to be in school until you are 18 but you can get a waiver from most districts as of age 16 if you are taking your GED.

why do you want to get you GED if you are 14? just wait and go through regular high school.

EDIT: I agree Mickey.. that was the first thing I saw too!!

I think you would be able to as long as you have a parents signature ! I guess it depends on where you live! But you should really be able to get one with your parents signature ! Hope this helps!
