who here went FAR AWAY TO COLLEGE?

im looking at schools that are up to 14 hours away from home. my parents arent exactly crazy about the idea, but i feel that it will be good for me. everyone at my schools tends to stay close to home, i figure since i only live once that i should make it an adventure. i want to discover a whole new area. i know it will be hard at first but i think it will help me grow as a person and will make it easier for me to succeed after college because ive learned more about independence than someone who only went 2 hours away. ive heard people say going to school far from home was the best decision they have ever made. is this true?

Yep. My parents live on the east coast, and I moved to Montana to attend school, and then to the south to finish my degree. Best decision I ever made. It makes you get out and learn how to do everything for yourself. Not to mention meeting new people and you can reinvent yourself. And I keep in touch quite a bit. Go for it!
