Irvine. SLO is in the middle of freaking nowhere. It’s primary advantage is the beach. UCI is like 2 miles from the beach so SLO really doesn’t have any advantages.

Cool Dad
I would pick SLO without a doubt. Irvine isn’t just more expensive but there is also more traffic and worse air quality. Also, since Cal Poly is a little more laid back and is a great school… you would probably do better in school. Plus, they both have beaches close, but the SLO beaches are easier to get to and less crowded. I guess if you are looking for tons of people and craziness, Irvine is the way to go. Otherwise, I would head to SLO.

SLO MLS
Judging by your name, you are either looking for a place to go to school or looking for a place to work. For school, Cal Poly is one of the best engineering programs in the Western U.S. If you are looking for work, Irvine has way more opportunities. SLO is a college/tourist town so it’s laid back. Irvine has mote traffic but more to do.

Choose SLO. Then you can say you live where other people vacation.

wait wait wait… you people cant be serious. Would you rather breathe CO2 or oxygen? San luis obispo is one of the nicest areas in the state and its an hour and a half from SB, 3 from LA and San fran. 8 minutes from the beach, no traffic, awsome weather, and a school made out of something more than just concrete. And as far as expensive, san luis obispo im sure is just as expensive as irvine.
