All the GPA turns otu to be is a qualifier. Many companies wont talk to you if it is below a certain number. Thats all that it counts for, once you have the interview, they dont really give much of a crap. And it really doesnt count for anything at all after you get that first job, then they look at experience and accomplishments, and just the fact that you have a degree.

We had three college interns this year at my company. The one with the C+ GPA did the best, and will most likely have a job with us when he graduates. We’ll just have to wait and see on the others, and they were A students.
Some companies care about GPA’s only because they are large, and subject to something called OFCCP. In those cases they have to have specific requirements. If they lower the requirements, they have to consider more applicants, and therefore have more paperwork.
The companies that aren’t subject to OFCCP are a little more relaxed about requirements, putting personality and skills first.
That first answerer up there is dead on, no one cares what the GPA really is.

At school sponsored job fairs or when searching for an internship GPA is important, but in the real world it is unlikely an employer will even ask about it. As long as you have a college degree, you are good to go. Very few employers look at college transcripts and grades.

Your GPA will definitely help you get your foot in the door for an interview, but mainly your people skills will be the deciding factor in getting you the job you want. Check out this link for the top 10 tips for a successful job interview (http://topten.org/public/AB/AB8.html). BTW, my GPA was fairly low even though I had a tough major (engineering), but I was able to get offers from every interview I went to. It was all in the interview. Good luck!
