If you are in the states, I think they are the same…but by the looks of the other answers they are not.

In Canada, colleges offer programs that are 2-3 years long and you get a diploma. They are more hands on and their graduates have an easier time geting job because it is more hands on learning.

University offers 3-4 year programs and they give you a degree (BA, Master’s Honours, etc). Most undergrads go back for grad school upon graduation. University has more book learning.

Actually they are the same but the difference between the two is that universities are accredited with high standards based on PAASCU and PACUCUA accreditation while colleges have also a standardized learning but applying to become a university or on the process to be one.You can refer their meanings to Mr.Webster’s dictionary and thesaurus for the other enough informations….

Colleges typically only offer a two or four year degree but do not offer post grad studies such as Masters or Doctorate.

A university is a collection of two or more colleges. Typically, there is a college of liberal arts, plus one or more trade schools, such as a school of journalism, an engineering school, a law school, a med school, etc.
