What Universities have a dental major?

I am sixteen, i live in California, and I want seriously now want to become a dentist.

I just don’t know how all of it works.

I want to attend a University straight out of high school and I also have an idea of which university i want to attend.

But the only problem is I do not know if it matters which UC I attend. Does it?

Do I have to attend a UC that offers dentistry as a major?

Or do I attend any UC I choose and then go to dental school?

Can anyone help me?

You can go to any UC you can get into and take the pre-dental or pre-health track of classes. There typically is not a “dentistry” major for undergraduates. There is a track of pre-health profession classes you can take to prepare you for the dental school admissions exam (DAT).

UCLA and UCSF (which is only for graduate school) both have graduate dental schools. Where you go for undergrad shouldn’t matter, as long as you do well and have good entrance exam scores.

From the UCLA site:

PRE-DENTISTRY PREPARATION

“Many dental schools accept students after three or more years of undergraduate courses. The Council on Dental Education recommends a baccalaureate degree prior to dental school matriculation. When selecting students, schools consider scores earned on the DAT, the applicants’ grade point average, and information gathered through recommendations and interviews. Students are encouraged to explore their interests and gain an understanding via exposure or experience in the field of dentistry.”

Just go to the school that feels right for you and do your best. Good luck.

in spite of the fact that there’s an astonishing prefer for hygiene awesome now, relatively with the ageing toddler-boomer inhabitants, the call for for nursing continues to be extra effective. It has actually replace into particularly perplexing for hygienists to discover jobs via massive huge type hygiene classes, which additionally skill great numbers of graduates getting into the sector with in straightforward terms a limited volume of job opportunities. i might advise enrolling in a application that supplies a bachelor’s degree relatively than an acquaintances. so some distance as being limited in the faculties you may attend, maximum classes do settle for pass credit from different colleges, for prerequisite instructions to a DH application. purely make sure purely before time that the class transfers, otherwise it relatively is a messy concern! stable success!

A practicing dentist requires a Doctor of Dental Science (DDS) degree, which is a post-graduate 4 year degree program; which means you need to earn an undergrad (Bachelors) and fulfill the necessary pre-requisite science courses, which are similar to that of one who is considering medical school.

Note that you can , however, earn an undergrad in Dental Hygiene, which allows you to qualify to do many roles that dentists do.
