New York Film Academy is excellent as well and you could enroll in the year or 2 year film program. It is completely handson and taught by NYU grads. You need no portfolio just a passion and the money

School of Visual Arts is also a good school. You don’t necessarily need a portfolio but you need good grades and good writing skills.

Chapman is also good but they prefer California residents.

AVOID ALL ART INSTITUTES! They are a waste of time and money. You’re better off going to a four year college which will allow you to major in film but let you focus on other things as well. If you ONLY want to do film then go to NY Film Academy or Full Sail (in Florida) where all you do is pay for the course and learn all that you can.

If you decide to take the 4 year school route you most likely should start filming things to build up your portfolio. Storyboard sketches, student film awards, film concepts…all of these look good.
