What does it mean to drop a college class with a W?
My Astronomy class is proving to be quite difficult. I’m going to take a quiz tomorrow, and if I perform poorly on it, I will probably drop the class. I know that at this point, if I drop, I will receive a W. What does this mean exactly? Is it advised not to drop with a W? Any help would be much appreciated.

W means you withdrew from the class. In my eyes (I am a professor/advisor), the W is a lot better than getting an F in a class. However, you don’t want too many Ws on your transcript.
