They like all three, but I have been told by college admissions officers, my school counselor, and teachers that colleges prefer you to be truly dedicated to one or two things instead of just joining fifteen so that you can put them down on your application.

alittle bit of everything. so you might want to join a club or two, let’s say the hip-hop dance club and a volunteering club (It would be even better if you are a club officer and its a club that you enjoy being in), and then you probably want to do about 2 hours of volunteering every now and then (make sure you are doing something that is meaningful and not just for the volunteering hours), and maybe join a sports team sometime like the swim team. see? it’s not too bad-manageable. other things that also look good is if you are working or if you are taking hard classes. don’t overwhelm yourself though. although colleges look at the activities that you have been involved with, keep in mind that this is not the only factor. Besides the extra curricular activities that you list, other great factors that colleges look at are your grades, class rank, class choice, SAT/ACT scores, teacher’s recomendation letters, your personal essay/personal statement, acheivements, etc.

iM GOING TO GIVE YOU THE BEST ADVICE YOU EVER HAD… assuming by good colleges you mean the 7 Ivy leagues…Places like yale and dartmouth and harvard(yes!) like all three, but keep in mind that u need to do what you want to do. If you don’t play a sport join your theatre society…it balances out b/c there the same thing basically. As for clubs…these colleges care more about the amount of good things you do in a club and the good things you did…whether you evoked change in other words….more than the amount of “club hours” you devote to one club or volunteer hours you do. I promise u It is the quality of your work, not the quantity that they care about.

Also gpa plays an important role in the process so set almost too high of goals to achieve and challenge yourself to reach them. I speak from experience. I just graduated last year and matriculated at harvard this fall.

Everything you just listed. Those are all extra curricular activities and all schools like that you have at least one of those.

Colleges like someone who is “well rounded” and shows leadership abilities.
