What do I need to get in University of Chicago/Duke University if I am Asian?
I have a 4.73/5.0 GPA, 2160 SATs (going to retake), Captain of Academic Decathlon team, Vice President of 2 clubs, treasurer for 1. I am an Chopin International Youth Competition gold medalist, and honorable mention winner. I think I am probably going to get good recommandations from my teachers. I write pretty good essays, but the thing is I am Asian and all that above I just listed is so typical of “being Asian”..oh and i dont have any legacy anywhere…
do you think i have a good chance of getting Uchicago/Duke? What other qualities/factors do i need? help please

You’re in good shape. Those are very selective schools, so you never know what will happen, but I doubt that even re-taking the SAT will matter much. Your score is already better than probably about 60% of the students at those schools.
If you don’t have a legacy anywhere, that would make you a first generation college student, which is actually a bonus point at a lot of schools.
Don’t be too concerned about beign “stereotypically Asian.” A lot of what top schools are looking for is stereotypically Asian. Anyways, you’re far enough along in high school that there’s very little you can do to change your chances now, so apply where you want to go, and to a few backup schools, and everything should work out well for you, even in the unlikely event that you don’t get into your top choices.
