What courses should I be taking in my first year of a BA majoring in math?

In the fall I’ll be taking a Bachelor of Arts degree and I plan to major in math. After my bachs, I plan to pursue a career in secondary school education. Any suggestions for courses I should take other than my math courses? Thanks in advance.

Psychology. Get some classes that are going to pay off later when you do your teaching part of your education. Find out what the education majors are taking.

By the way I’m glad you’re going for math teaching. We need that in this country real bad.

Work on your gen eds and take a few more math classes than normal.

You’ll have to get your gen-eds out of the way at some point. Why not now?

You can get to more advanced stuff later. Remember that you’ll be there for 4-5 years! You don’t have to take EVERYTHING now.

Keep it under 16 hours and keep the load pretty light. Your semester you don’t want a burn out.

Remember that if you’re going into secondary education, you’ll need quite a few credits in education (education, child psychology, etc.) to be able to get a license.

But your college (especially if it’s a liberal arts school) probably has distribution requirements (like having to take a certain number of English classes, etc.).

Also, I would seriously consider taking Spanish. Many parents of students in US schools are recent immigrants, and it will REALLY help you to be able to communicate with them!

Cal I II and III and differtinental equations.

Should also consider taking Physics and some ap certification classes since it will boost your pay check.
