Other than a very temporary sense of accomplishment, there aren’t too many reasons.

Employers don’t generally look closely at gpa. They look at whether or not you earned the degree. Essentially, your degree is just your foot-in-the-door in most cases.

On the other hand, graduate schools DO, indeed, take undergrad GPA into account.

If you’re planning on going to grad school, keep your grades up as high as possible.

1) Scholarship money (college is expensive and every little bit helps and also it looks good on the resume)

2) Access to Honor Societies which gives you better access to companies and networking with other students that will end up in positions that will allow you to progress your career later.

3) Looks good on the resume. It shows that you are a hard worker and dedicated. Which doesn’t guarantee you a higher salary but it does give you more options in which companies you will get job offers from.

4) Graduate opportunities, universities will give the person with a high GPA, an opportunity to go to Graduate school more than a person with an average student and will probably offer to pay for that advanced degree.

5) Universities will give more opportunities to people with high GPA to work with graduate students and professor and be a part of research work, etc.

1. Gives you a personal sense of accomplishment and pride

2. You will get on the Dean’s List (looks good on grad school or job applications)

3. The professors will notice you, therefore leading to good letters of recommendation

4. You can apply for scholarships and will be more likely to get money (I received around $10,000 in undergrad and now my grad school is completely paid for too)
