Read that link. See if you have all the required coursework. If not, you’re going to have to go back to school and take the classes you’re missing. You’ll also need to take the MCAT exam. Geez, just read the Med School’s web page in general. I’m a little bit wary if med school is for you if you couldn’t even find the Med School’s website. Your school related questions are answered on that website.

As for the rest, you get loans like basically every other med student. That’s what you live off of. You will NOT be able to support a family with your loans. Your wife is going to have to work unless you guys stay with relatives and they support you guys.

You don’t have to postpone the wedding. Using some of your savings might qualify you for more financial aid and possibly even some grants.

It’s too late to start in the fall. If you get the app in now, you can probably start in January. Otherwise, find out when the fall deadline is for turning in apps and have it submitted by then. You should find out within a few months. Fall classes start at the end of August.

To get a loan, you should fill out the FAFSA. I think the website is www.FAFSA.org, but search it on the web. You can also take out another loan at www.salliemae.com There’s a ton more- if you search for student loans you’ll find many.

Do you already have a Bachelor’s? Is this Graduate School that you will be starting? If so, it might be a good idea to postpone the wedding. You can do it, graduate school is very demanding though. Planning a wedding on top of your coursework may end up to be very brutal.

As to tuition, the University of Utah currently charges $10,346 per year for each of the four years of medical school, although you could expect that to go up each year you are in the program. Most people take out loans.

Classes begin on August 20 this year, but you would obviously have to apply for admission for 2008-9, assuming you have met the requirements to apply, because no one takes students this late in the game. Applications are due between June 1 and November 1.

As for loans, you should fill out a FAFSA application. That will let you know what federal aid you qualify for. You should also contact the financial aid office at the university. They may have information on other grants/loans/scholarships you might qualify for.

As for postponing the wedding, I don’t think we can really answer that for you. I know a lot of people who have planned weddings while in school. But, I know that med school is a lot of work. So, really that is between you and your fiancee as to what your priorities are.
