USC Film School?

I’m in community college in LA and I have a few classes left to finish my general ed. My GPA is not that great. It’s below 2.5. I’m focused and will put in 100% effort to get my grades and GPA up these next few classes.

How do I know what’s the next step for trying to apply to USC Film School? I want to be a writer. My college counselors don’t know anything, so how would I talk to someone at USC who can tell me what classes I should take now to help me get in.

And what happens if I don’t get admitted because of my GPA? Do I have another shot? Do I take some more classes and redo some to get the GPA higher?

How can I talk to someone useful who can let me know what to do next? My college counselors keep saying, “I don’t exactly know what classes THEY require, you might want to talk to them.” Ok, so how? Should I schedule a tour for USC? Will that help me get in contact with someone? Please help.

Your GPA is way to low. The average community college transfer GPA is in the mid 3.0’s and that’s that it’s not even major specific. To get into film school your gpa must be even higher only because it is competitive.

Your best bet is to start at a new community college and aim for straight A’s for one year. After all you can transfer into USC after only 30 semester credits at a community college, and they’ll base your admissions on that solely. They’ll ask to see all your school transcripts, but if you don’t show them what you have now, how will they ever find out, unless you get caught that you attended another community college and got a 2.5.

Admission to USC’s film school is HIGHLY competitive, and I seriously doubt they would even consider you with such a low GPA.

Order a university catalog. It will have all classes listed, as well as the prerequisites. You can telephone the admissions office to find out what will transfer, and whether or not you have a snowflake’s chance in hell of getting in.
