Undergraduate admissions?

If you are trying to apply to a competitive school like Yale, can it help your admissions if you know department faculty that your major will be specializing in? Can you do that? For example: can you contact a professor, arrange to meet, and then he could help you get into that school?

he can definitely write you a recommendation and that would help it wouldnt make or break their decsion to accept you but it could help a bit especially if the professor is well known and has some influence. So Good Luck!

no…profs really cant help you get in. the only way this would apply is that a family member works or went to that school ur applying to. Colleges like to see that kids want to go to the same place that their parents did. It can possibly help you if u do specify a major. Some schools start off their major right from the start so it helps that you know wut u want to do

The professor that you know can write you a recommendation letter. It’s happened before.

not really. you can of course contanct a professor, but unless the professor absolutely LOVES you and has to have you in his class, then it wouldn’t help your chances because the professors have nothing to do with your admission
