transfering to UCs?
ive finished one year of city college, i have a 3.4 gpa. i’ll have igetc and my major requirements done by this spring. the catch: i dont have a high school diploma. i want to apply by this november, do UCs require a GED or high school equivalent of some sort?

Yes you will need either a GED or high school and your grades in CC should be acceptable.

No, high school is such an old story. If you are capable enough to transfer to a UC, what do you prove by going back and getting a GED? (That was a rhetorical question.) Take a look at the link below, which I am pretty sure is a UC-wide policy. You would have completed all the coursework you need by satisfying the IGETC. Otherwise, there is no point in signing up for the program.
