Transfer credits = Better GPA?

I am thinking about transferring to another university for the 2008-2009 year. I currently have a 3.4 gpa, and have been on the Dean’s List since my first semester. I’ve only made one C, which was the first semester in Pre-Caluclus, the only math that I needed. I was wondering, if I do transfer, can I possibly NOT receive credit for that math class and therefore lose the C. I’ll retake another math once I transfer and get an A. I’d like to get that C off of my transcript, and the school Im at now said that I can retake that class, but the old attempt will still be on there, which I don’t like…Anyone know what I could do?

It really depends on the college you’re transferring to.

When I transferred, they accepted all my previous credits that were C or better and then they completely wiped my GPA clean. In other words, my GPA started over at my new school.

Call the school you’re transferring to and ask about this. They may or may not let you retake the class for a new grade (some places will average the two) or they may wipe your slate clean like they did at mine.

By the way, for college, a 3.4 is pretty good, so don’t be too worried.

Good luck!

Most universities have this policy. At mine, they call it “repeat/delete”. You repeat the class for a higher grade, and the higher grade will replace the lower grade on your GPA, but the old class (and old grade) will still be visible on your transcript – alongside the new class and new grade.

So your GPA will be higher, but the C will still be on the transcript. There is no way to get rid of it. You can’t pretend like you never took a class/never got a certain grade.

Keep in mind that you will have a few GPA’s once you transfer. The one from the previous school (3.4), the one from the new school (whatever it is), and a merged GPA of the two. They mostly count the latter two.

I’m also tranfering…however most school transfer almost all the credits, but you get to start and new GPA. So even thougth the grades are gonna be posted in the system of the institution you are transfering the wont count towards the new GPA. However i dont think you can actually “Pick” the classes that you want to transfer….good luck.

motives first-12 months scholars do no longer return for their 2nd 12 months of school : Arrested for criminal interest (on or off campus). Kicked out for habit unbecoming a pupil. they do no longer make stable grades. they won’t be able to have adequate funds it. tutorial burnout. existence gets interior the way (dying in kinfolk – having to be executor, different disruptions) sufferer of criminal interest (attack, battery, rape) and leaving the entire area. circulate to a various college or college. connect militia. connect nationwide shelter and get deployed. circulate out of state with kinfolk contributors. so which you’re forsaking your community college, eh ? you have stable grades and merely leaving them ? The 4-12 months universities like the transfers with extreme grades such as you, as you have already shown you may cope with the 1st-12 months teachers.
