It depends on the individual university. At the university that I work at, there is a 10-year rule to pursue your baccalaureate degree. Keep in mind that if there is a break in attendance and the curriculum changes in your degree program, you may be required to fulfill the new curriculum rather than the curriculum that was in effect when you were first accepted to the degree program.

Best wishes!

…the easy answer to your question is yes,, however most universities base your finishing on how many semesters your attended , how well did you do, whether you changed your major, what major did you take, did that major require, say science courses that may be outdated, and believe it or not,, how much are you paying to go to school there, (the most expensive school, will not care because you are making them rich by staying there,, most state school have rules sometimes that are hard to understand, and whether you were a “continuing student”. The defination of the last is interpreted differently at many campuses.

Now,, the real question you are asking should be how can I complete my degree in a reasonable amount of time? How can I plan to do that? Have I taken on a major that will allow for that? Do I have realistic goals? Will i have enough $$$ to go to school? … sounds like you need an academic tune up.. see your counselor,, if you dont like what s/he says,, “trade them in like a used car for another”

Many universities have part time students who take one or two courses a year until they graduate – they graduate when they complete the degree requirements, no matter how long it takes. (Graduate and professional schools, on the other hand, usually do impose time limits on completing a degree.)

But CHECK with the regulations of the institution you are interested in.

There is a time limit. It cold vary from school to school since it is dependent on policies set out by the various accreditation boards. I believe at my school that after ten years credits expired. It took me 8 to graduate and none of my expired. On the other hand, all my graduate credit expired after 5 so I could not complete my masters.

So I can’t give you a definite answer, but in my case 8 years did not trigger any credit loss.
