Hello There

Thoughts on purusing a JD/MPP/MBA degree?

How long do you think it’ll take? I know a joint degree- JD/MBA takes 4 years-

Do you know of any universities that offer a triple degree program?

I would prefer to knock out all three degrees in a one- two punch and have begun studying for all three exams (LSAT, GRE, GMAT) rather than get my JD/MBA then have to apply to school again for my MPP.

Thoughts? Advice?

If you are going into investment banking or one of the better MBA type jobs, then a JD is useless. If you want to just be a lawyer, then an MBA will not help you much (but from seeing how many lawyers were in my MBA class, it doesn’t look like many want to be lawyers).

No idea what a MPP would give you if you have the JD and MBA already. Seems just a waste of time.

Don’t do it! The only thing worse than being under qualified is being over qualified. You don’t need all those degrees, trust me. If you have your JD, an MBA is essentially worthless. I am in my third year of law school and I have never seen a job posting requiring both a JD and MBA. Typically it requires one or the other. Plus, most employers care more about your experience rather than the number of degrees you have.

Rather than deciding you want degrees X, Y and Z, go look at job postings for positions you are interested in and review the requirements. Make your education decisions based on what you want to do. It will save you a lot of money and time.
