the future of Architecture?

Im planning to take architecture major when I transfer, which is next year, but am still questioning if this field is going to be good in the future. What do you think, does it seem promising enough? I heard it’s hard to get a job in an arch firm.. =( [currently looking for one, =P ]

Absolutely! The jobs of architects are not going to disappear anytime soon. And now is actually a really promising time because it is getting harder and harder to become licensed, added to the fact that a huge majority of the industry is occupied by aging men who are soon set to retire. I have read many analysts saying that they worry about a collapse because there aren’t enough people entering the field to replace those leaving.

The key to getting a firm job is to start low, show ambition, and work your way up. Every firm is a little different so you want to ask around from people who work in your area. Once you transfer, start asking for local internships, which many are advertised directly through the architecture advising office.

Good luck!
