System Lifecycle (Systems Analysis)?

I have an assignment due in – ooooh about 3hrs and 52 minutes which I must submit electronically.

I need to define a systems lifecycle and explain why using a formal method is important in regards a complex business application.

I need to then break it down into the various areas of the system lifecycle and describe the techniques involved.

Then, compare that lifecycle with other options and finally describe the stremgths & weaknesses of each type and identify which has the best use in different kinds of environments.
