Studying Pharmacy?

I’m going to be a freshman in college next fall and was wondering what do i need to do as far as extra-curricula activities and volunteering experience to get into the school of pharmacy, i know its different from one school to another, but what is the common ground ??

Pharmacy club would be good. Volunteering at a local pharmacy or a hospital; if you do this you won’t be playing an integral part in the daily matters of a pharmacy, but you’ll get to see and experience 2nd hand what it’s like to work as a pharmacist. You can study for the PCAT, but you’re only a freshman so you don’t really have to worry about that yet. Also, some pharmacy schools don’t require the PCAT, such as the ones in CA.

There are alot of things that you can do in order to better your pharmacy school application. I recommend THE FOLLOWING:

1) Get good grades

2) Join a club and then become the presiden the following year

3) Study for the PCAT and get good scores

Order of importance…

1. Grades
2. Work experience
3. Volunteer experience
4. Clubs (i guess?) not really important in my opinion.

Also make sure you earn solid letters of recommendation from relevant people (i.e. not your boss when you used to lifeguard during the summer in high school).
