Stanford and USC?

How much work does it take to get into Stanford? A girl at my school said that she was going to go to Mongolia to go build houses and I was all like, “Wow, it’s so amazing that you’d go to all that trouble to help people,” and she said, “I actually don’t care about those people, I just need it to be on my college application.” And that’s worried me because I’d like to attend Stanford or USC and I’m not sure if they’ll accept me (I just turned 13, so I know it’s sorta weird to be thinking about college.) My dad AND mom attended USC and my dad’s company (he’s the CEO and founder) has donated hundreds of thousands of dolalrs to the school. Does this better my chances of getting in?

THat definitely improves your chances. Money alway talks. You should get some volunteer work to improve the look of your application, but doing it in Mongolia (as oppose to your town) does NOT make it look any better.

I believe you’re in a very good position to enter just about any university you can afford.

Your girlfriend will care, and find she likes those Mongolians before she leaves them.

I suspect your father does better your chance at USC. But, also, with your own academic + plus extracurriclur perfomances (eg. Mongolia or other non profit or scientific or commercial or socially significant thing), you can be well-positioned to go anywhere you can afford.

that girl sounds pretty petty – I hope she doesnt get in. As for your situation, USC is much easier to get into that Stanford, but it is possible with great grades and high test scores and good outside activities. If your pops is an SC grad, you will get in even if you get all Bs

The fact that both your parents went there definitely helps you a lot. As long as you get decent grades, I don’t see why you wouldn’t get in. I have so many friends here who’s parents went here too. Legacy is a big thing here.

the Illuminati is worried come what may. Or probably the Government does not wish USC to win whatever. they despatched the CIA to play for Standford. You recognise them CIA can play a few soccer!
