School Psychologist requirements?

Hi, I am in my first year of college, earning my BA in psychology. I am interested in becoming a school psychologist, and was wondering what I need to do besides get a masters degree. I’m guessing I need an internship, but how long, and what does the internship actually entail. Are any of you a school psychologist, or know of anyone who is, if so please tell me the step you or they took. Thanks for all the help.

**Also, I live in Wisconsin, and plan on staying in the state to get a job after I graduate.

here’s the thing – psychology is a great field and scholl psych too. myhusband is a school psych and has been one for 25 years. you do need a masters and you do need and internship – the internship is based on what your school requires for yout o get credit fo it – so speak to you academic advisor for the particulars in at your college. here’s the kicker tho – you can make a lot of $$ doing private evals/therapy on the side for OVR or rehab places or just privately – but these days in psychology you have to get your Ph.d to become liscensed – and it really is a good idea to continue on with your education and the earlier the better. the sooner you start making better money the sooner you can start making real plans for your future. it’s a great and challenging field!! good luck to you in your endeavors!!

It’s about 2 years for the master’s…check schools for their descriptions, they are all different.
