Rechoosing My Major?

I was planning to major in Criminal Justice and minor in Philosophy and being an FBI Field Agent, but Im not sure if I want to do that anymore.

I want to help people. I want to travel. So I was thinking about one of the following:

Cultural Anthropology

Sociology

Criminal Justice

Philosophy

International Studies

Journalism

Business

But I have no idea what I could use them for? If anyone has any combinations of the above or new ideas please share them, and why.

I dont want anything medical or sciencey.

After completing college in 2.5 to 3 years I plan to travel for a year and then work as an Au Pair in France for a year and Spain for a year.

Any thoughts would be great. Thanks

What about an international human rights lawyer =) It’s a noble cause!

You could also major in a language and work as a translator for a foreign company.

Sociology/Philosophy will not really get you anything.

Of the majors you have listed business and criminal justice seem the most wise. Of course, you should follow those up with Grad school! get your law degree or your MBA after graduation.

Journalism is an okay major if you have a real passion for it and intend to work for a newspaper or magazine.

Even if you wanted to do FBI, Criminal Justice by itself would have not been enough. FBI agents need to be versed in other fields like, Accounting, Science, or speak a foreign language. I had to find that out when I applied for a job. Criminal justice with an accounting degree or a science degree or even a minor is what you would need to have and then you will be snatched up right away.

Anthropology is not a career where the jobs are abundant. If you got a PhD maybe you could teach.

Sociology is an interesting field and there are jobs out there for it, but you would have to get a Masters atleast and from the sound of it, you arent interested in being in school that long.

Philosophy is a good career if you want to teach and you need a Masters degree and preferably a PhD.

Business to me is the best degree you can get as just a 4 year major. You will not need to go to graduate school to get a decent job. If you did business with a minor in Criminal Justice that would still be soemthing the FBI would want if you decide to go that route.

I am a Criminology major but I will be getting an Accounting masters so that I can be more desirable to employers but that is just me.

I say getting atleast a Masters is always best but that is up to you.

I hope you are financially sound because none of the majors you mentioned will net you any money in the short run. Business as a major is too broad, with your interest, you might consider international business where you might be taken around the world even during your college days for studying and internships.

But if you want to help people, criminal justice sounds pretty good. You can become a lawyer, police, FBI (like u mentioned) or other public service personels.

Plenty extra towns if we appear external of the US however inside the US, I believe it is a beautiful well record (besides I do not know if it is reasonable to rely Dallas-Fort Worth and Minneapolis-St. Paul as separate towns; kinda like how the Bay is obvious as one field). There are in general a couple of unique motives for why those towns do not have brilliant artists. Some towns fall below the shadow of others. For instance, 2 of the six contributors of the Visionaries are from San Diego however the team is usually obvious as being from LA. Dallas-Fort Worth is the scene that I am such a lot aware of. There are a few problems that I see there. One, folks robotically believe that each one Texas rappers are from Houston. Two, lovers there are not relevant sufficient. So plenty of cats grow to be considering that they’re bigger than they’re and do not trap on in different places. Then the rappers that *are* well both get stuck up in that stigma or transfer in different places to get their attention (like DOC).

How about Romance Languages where you could study French, Spanish, Italian and Latin (nobody speaks it, by the way, you translate it and read it. It’s cool to be able to read the poetry in its original, by the way- well worth the time).

This may be fun for you. Just an idea.
