Question about the American Psychological Association format. word count?

I’m working on a term paper for my class in the APA (American Psychological Association) writing format, similar to MLA.

My question is, and I cant seem to find the answer; It needs to be 1,000 words long, without much leniency on the over or under. So, Does the Abstract count as part of the word count?

I just finished my English 111 and 112. And in both of my classes the abstract did add to the word count. And that was in APA format. But just to be sure I would ask the instructor. Every instructor is different and has different requirements. Good luck!!!!!!!

Typically the abstract is not in the word count, but ask your course instructor, or students who took the class last year. The journals only count the words in the article, but who knows what your prof does, so ask.
