People keep telling me to go to a community college. Should i listen to them?

If I go to a community college and get an associates degree in C++ Computer programming, can i transfer to a university and get a bachelors degree in Game programming? People keep saying go to a community college, but none of the colleges in my state has it, except Devry University, which is the only school that has the program. I can’t go to that college if it doesnt have game programming.

Devry is a regionally accredited school so if you earn a degree there it will transfer to another college/university that has game programming. It would be up to the college of the major to accept those credits into their program.. Check with local colleges and see what they say about it. Oh…just to add, community college is a great place to start for a lot of people. It’s slower pace and small class sizes make it an easier transition to college life. It’s also a lot less inexpensive. Good luck to you.

My advice would be to try to go straight to Devry–some of the computer requirements between community college and Devry might be different if you are doing Game Programming, so you might as well just start out at Devry and finish there. You can get an Associate’s degree if you like, or if you don’t get into Devry on your first shot.

Or you could go out-of-state and find another university if you like.

game programing is just like computer science or some major with software in it (like software programing or something) I’m sure other schools in your state has some kind of computer programing degree.

Yes, you can transfer from a community college to a university to get a bachelors in programming.

YES! Find a community college that has a transferable degree in your major. I went to a community college. I got an AS in Business then transferred to a university to get a Bachelor’s in Accounting! Going to the community college was far less expensive and It got most of my liberal arts and survey classes out of the way. I highly recommend it.

No it’s not necessary to play a sport unless you are counting on a sports schlorshop. Don’t leave out volunteer work and other community services. Help at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter. Colleges are looking for well rounded students. You may want to write to colleges you are interested in and ask them what kind of students they are looking for. It is way to soon to be thinking you won’t get into college. Your grades are good! Go for it!!

Only the colleges themselves will know…give them a call, set up an appointment, see what courses they have, ask them all your questions.

People tell you to go to a community college because it usually costs less than a four-year college. They’re trying to save you some money. And, a community college (the courses and the way they are taught) are easier than a 4-year college or university.

If you want C++ or game programming go to a school that has that whatever it is – a CC or a 4 year. You will probably be better served educationally with a not-for-profit traditional 4 year private or public school and get a more well rounded education.

i would not go to devry because if you run out of money the classes there do not transfer to other schools. i would go to community college and surf the net to find out if there is any online programs that are attached to a brick and mortar school so you won’t have to worry about the transferability.

here is a link to online game programming search some are brick and mortar and some or not chose the brick and mortar

and go to a university not devry…

and above all take it seriously!!! its only your life….. (i said that only cause you didnt seem sure you wanted to go yet)

do what you like because you’ll study it not the “people”

however, make sure you take deep thinking about it because your choice will stay with you during your educational life .. expert’s opinions will be great ..
