psychiatrist are doctors but do they have to take the same courses as doctors? i mean doctors have to go work in a hospital for years bfore they become doctors do psychiatrist? what do aspiring psychiatrist have to do to before becoming one and is this a great field?

Psychiatrists are among the top paid in the medical profession reporting the most job satisfaction. They often work less hours as the job is very emotionally taxing, but it is also very rewarding when you can help people in need. Psychiatrists will deal more with people who have serious mental health afflictions needing medications, such as schizophrenia and severe mood disorders. (As opposed to Psychologists who study social behavior, but do not prescribe medications).
In addition to Med School and residency it also takes a certain mental tenacity to handle the type of social interactions the job demands.
All the psychiatrists that I know are very satisfied with their careers and would agree that it is a great field.

Psychiatry is a great preofession.
Psychiatry is a specialty of a Medical Doctor. So, they take all the same courses that Hospital Doctors take, they just choose a different residency after they graduate from Med School.
To become a Psychiatrist you will have to go through College, Med School, and a Psychiatry residency.

Psychiatrists do need to go to med school now, but that might be changing. Psychologists are the ones who don’t go to med school because they don’t prescribe meds. It’s a growing field and opportunities are decent, but it’s a lot of work. Keep good grades and do volunteer work in the field and you should be great. Good luck! =)
