During your undergraduate studies (four years of college/university studies), you can major in anything and still get into medical school as long as you take the necessary science prerequisite courses – your advisor in college (your department will assign you one) will tell you what classes you need to take. However, most people who are pre-med students major in Biology.

During your senior year or after you graduate from college, and after you take the MCAT exam, you apply to medical schools. After you train as a doctor, you’ll take advanced training to become a cardiologist.
