MBA v/s PhD ???
I have entered MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I am a foreign student in the US and have traveled more than 13000 kms to pursue something I wanted to… I am in my early 20s …. I am almost sure this wont be my last degree… I have an ambition that I wish to work for a few years in R&D and then take over the management side… I also wish to have the flexibility of wanting to work anywhere in the world and also at the end of the day want time to spend with family and parents.
I am not decided about this… I need some light from enlightened minds… I dont expect life to be easy … I must confess that I have never been the top most guy in my field !! Is it possible for management guys to work in tech and PhD guys to work in management ? I really need some insights !!
Thanks in advance for your answers

Why would you get a PhD in a subject and then not use it. If you want to get into company management, then an MBA is the way to go. If you want to stay technical and lead a group of EE’s in research then get an PhD. A PhD is not going to get you into management and an MBA will not get you into research.
Also, it is NOT easy to get a MSEE and then go to PhD schools. Both are usually terminal degrees. If you want a PhD, you should be in a PhD program. It can be done, but most PhD’s are people that went into the programs right out of undergrad

If you want to go to the top, get your Ph.D.
