marymount/ hunter college?

hey everyone, i just had a question regarding these two schools, and was hoping to get some information from possible past/present students. generally speaking, what do you think about marymount college and hunter college? what are the differences and similarities between the two? what grades and test scores should i aim for in order to be accepted? what are the classes, teachers, students, etc. like? what about the locations, rooming, etc.

i know there’s a lot there to be addressed, but i really appreciate it! thank you so much!

Well, for one, Marymount College is no longer open! It was a part of Fordham University, and it folded a year or so ago. . . unless you’re talking about Marymount Manhattan College, which is a totally different school.

Marymount Manhattan is a private school located on the upper east side of Manhattan. Hunter is a CUNY school (city college school) on the upper east side of Manhattan. It’s a nice area–very expensive, but easily accessible to the rest of Manhattan.

Marymount Manhattan costs about $30,000 with housing, which it offers to its students (three dorms). Hunter costs $10,000 without housing (as a comparison, without housing, MMC costs $19,000–MMC is private, and Hunter is a public university).

Hunter is a much larger school with many more major offerings:

MMC only offers 16 majors:

Not sure about SAT and GPA–you can email each school for stats, but you’re probably looking at around a 3.0 (maybe less) and above average SAT scores. (But if you email each school’s admissions office, that’s a really easy way to find out.) Good luck.

I agree. I stay in TX and am shifting to long island in December to bypass to Hunter in the Spring. I visited %. final summer season and its no longer that great and it expenditures VERY bright penny. bypass to a CUNY first.
