Marine animal rehabilitation education… your opinion?

I have two choices for where I could go to receive my BS degree. I’m specializing in marine rehabilitation. I’ve been trying to decide on these two schools (I won’t name them to avoid biased advice).

School 1: I can receive a Marine Bio degree, but I will be less likely to get as much veterinary experience. I will have no minor, and will not have anything to fall back on if i don’t get into my desired field- it’s competitive. This school has a “pre-vet” organization, but they don’t actually have a veterinary program- the closest thing they have is a 6 week summer program for this degree.

School 2: While this school doesn’t have a marine biology degree, I can take any major I want (to have an alternate career plan), and minor in oceanography. They also have an actual veterinary clinic that deals with large, small, and exotic animals, and a branch that is specifically for Marine Bio that I could (hopefully) transfer to later to get that portion of my education. So can someone help?

I would go with school 2 and major in biology (wildlife biology or marine biology if possible), or another major that will ensure you get all the prerequisites for vet school out of the way. Combined with oceanography (if you choose that) and the experience you can hopefully get at the clinic, you should be setting yourself up on a strong path into your chosen career. Good luck!
