Junior in high school, looking at colleges?
Hi, this year i will be a junior in high school. I attend a regional vocational technical high school, in CT. This year I will be taking my SAT’s. I have a couple of different questions that Id appreciate some help with. I would like to go onto college to become a nurse. I have decided that I am going to go away to school in either NYC or Cali. California, more likely. I would like to get into a major college. But, i have some doubts that I will not be able to get into a good school because I attend a technical high school. I was wondering if you all thought id still have the same chances into getting into a good college as if i was attending a puclic/private school? Also, I was wondering if early admission into a college is a good thing, or if you believe theres no point in it? and why? Because I am thinking of doing early admission into a college. Thank you for the help.

Early admissions is good. It shows your motivation and interest and that is what collages also look for. It also gives you an idea of what you are in for in advance. So go for it. As long as your high school is an accredited school, and you are making good grades, you will be fine. Don’t ever let it get you down if you don’t get into the first collage you apply, keep trying. Your education is going to be what you make it, so if you try hard and work hard, you will do fine

I would probably move to California, and take care of all of the classes that I could at a junior college, it is less expensive and it will help you establish residency. Write immediatly to an admissions counsler at the University of California San Francisco nursing progam. Explain the situation to them and ask them what you need to do to gain acceptance into their school.

if your family is rich and can pay the tuition, you could get into a private school in cali. for the UC system, forget about it since you are not a resident. if you want to be a nurse, why not just move to cali and go to community college. you can become an rn from there. if you decide later to transfer you will have much much better luck at getting into a UC as you will be a CA resident

For college: they seem at grade 12. The marks you get on the start of the 1st semester determines if the college will evaluate you for admission and the final marks determines if: A) you nonetheless qualify B) no longer qualified (marks dropped to plenty) the 1st one million/2 of grade 12 is important for various scholarships which you prepare for say the millennium award yet your very final marks are what determines if u get carry of school scholarships like front scholarships etc… and OSAP awards and bursaries. Grade 11 is likewise important for scholarships yet much less so for college
