University of Phoenix is a real school and they are accredited by the same organization that accredites other colleges and universities. Their course credits will transfer to any other college, and you can get into a traditional graduate school with a U of P degree, contrary to what the above poster stated. As long as the college is accredited, your credits are accepted and transferable. U of P is mostly online, but almost all colleges offer online courses and degrees now through their Distance education or External degree departments, and the trend is continuing in that direction, especially for older working adults. Most people who get online degrees are non-traditional students, for example, working adults, and an online degree is fine in that situation–the person already has a work history and job references, which for them is more important that what school they got their degree from. There is a lot of prejudice and arrogance still from people who think they are somehow better or have a better education because they went the traditional route for their diplomas, but it’s not based in fact, only feelings.

It certainly exists, if that is what you mean. Is it a traditional university? No, it only offers online courses, and it is for-profit, as opposed to most universities and colleges, which are not for profit. Will your degree from there benefit you? That depends on what you are trying to do. If you are competing for a job with someone who got a more traditional education, and you are interviewing with someone who themselves got a more traditional education, the other person would probably have the edge. If you were trying to get into a traditional graduate school after getting your degree from U of P, you won’t get credit for any courses you got there. But if all they care about is the piece of paper, you would have it.

Oh its real but very expensive.

I have had several friends graduate there in their Masters Degree.

They took all their courses online.

It’s real, expensive and not worth the time… UOP does not have a good reputation in academia.
