Is it possible to live without college?

I realized today that I’m not sure if I want to go to college or not. What alternatives to a conventional four-year college are there, how well do they work, and what jobs can I get that are rewarding and interesting that don’t require a college degree?

There are lots of jobs and careers that don’t require a college degree. However, as time passes that 4 year college degree will be like finishing high school was 50 years ago. What most people don’t realize about college is that you can really study ANYTHING you want to learn. You don’t have to go for business or engineering…you can go for poetry or geology or ecology. Search your heart. Going to college doesn’t have to be a 4 year sentance of boredom. Perhaps take a gap year and figure out what you want to do, work for a year, travel. But don’t nix college prematurely. After all you can always become a piano player in a bar with a degree in medicine, but you can’t practice medicine with only a lifestyle of piano playing. (Ok, that made more sense in my head, but I think you get what I meant.)

Good luck.

By all means, college isn’t the only way to success and $ !!! Actually, a lot of the multi-millionares and multi-billionares haven’t gotten a singe degree to their name! What you need is will power, and choosing to go to college or not doesn’t take that away. However, you are pretty much guarunteed a high-paying spot in the workfield if you do some majors, not to mention hard ones, but if you work just as hard without college assistance, you can do the same or even more!!! But if you aren’t willing to work as hard, going to college is your best bet, as its a more secure way of going to a job. So i’m saying, it just depends..

You could take up a trade such as plumbing, construction, etc. You could start your own business or website and attempt to make money that way. You could learn how to flip houses but that is a tad risky. You might look for a house flipping apprenticeship somewhere to learn the ins and outs before you put up your own money.
