Is it possible for a college to reject you even if you met all their entry requirements?

yes, in fact its possible even if you exceed them. colleges are looking for more than just stats, they have to have certain minority percentages, certain male to female percentages, certain in state ourt of state, certain number or transfer students, certain number of disabled students, and not only that but there may be so many that mett these requirements that they pick those who exceed those, and there may be so many of those that they pick those who exceed those.. its a gamble but im sure you will do great!

I can’t speak for every single college, but I know that it’s possible. There’s a maximum capacity for each school (obviously =P), and even though a lot of the applicants are fully qualified to attend the college, sometimes they simply don’t have enough room.

I’m in Canada, and this past year, the University I attended had to reject thousands of applicants, even though all of them met the requirements. This is because the school couldn’t accommodate the number of students that applied.

Hope this helps… and remember that it’s not going to be the same for every college (it does depend on the size and number of applications received).

Yes it is. Many more people apply than there are slots available.

You might try going somewhere else and transferring in after a year. If you’re grades are good it’s a good bet that they’ll take you. Try to align the classes you take with those that they will accept at the school where you will want to eventually go.

They will probably put you on a waiting list before outright rejecting you. It may be they have already met the enrollment numbers they were looking for. If they don’t put you on a waiting list, ask to be put on one for the following semester and then transfer.

Yes… they have a limit to how many people they can accept each year. Therefore, apply early (recommended before Thanksgiving), and if you meet the requirements, have good extra curricular activities and whatnot in HS, then your chances are good (but not guaranteed).

Most colleges do not have strict criteria for admissions. A few do have some specific requirements that guarantee admissions, but even those might have exceptions for violent criminals, etc.

of course. especially private, selective collegs.

example- 19,000 people apply to duke university each year and only 1600 get accepted.

even if all 19000 met the requirements, colleges like that can afford to be extremely selective and only accept the best of the best.

Of course you can be rejected simply because all the colleges available slots are filled.

specific, yet I generally could see somebody head to head and look of their eyes and get their genuine feeling to truly understand them. yet yep, there could actually be good thoughts notwithstanding if I by no ability met them. i’m a hugger and that should truly be effective too!
