Is it easy to transfer from a engineering school within a college to the college of letters and science?

I am currently a high school senior and am in the process of applying to college. I was thinking of going into biomedical engineering. If I decide that I no longer want to major in engineering while I am attending college, is it easy to transfer out of engineering and into the college of letters and science?

Thanks!

As stated before — changing your major from Engineering to another major is easily accomplished. Usually it only involves filing an intent to change your major with the college of your choice.

The point about the professional/graduate degree for your new major and GPA is very well stated.

Another issue is that you will need to check the new major to see if there are certain General Education classes (classes taken in your first 2 years) that are specified for your new major. An example of this would be if you were transferring to Business — some colleges give the choice between Economics or American Gov’t — Business might stipulate Economics be taken. When you change your major you will need to go to the course catalog for your new major to make sure you have the correct GED courses required by that major. If not, then those will be additional courses you will have to complete prior to graduation.

It will be very easy to transfer out of Engineering to the any other college at the U. The only problem is your GPA might be hurt if you don’t do well and then if you decide to go on to professional school it will make things tougher.

You can “transfer” (really, all you are doing is changing your major) but be aware that you will probably end up being in school longer than 4 years.

Engineering is tough so you can easily transfer out. Trying to transfer into engineering school is difficult.
