Business or hospitality management would be useful for going into a travel/customer service career. You can also major in language studies in one of the languages you speak (or try to pick up a new one). I’m impressed you know Tongan, that’s pretty obscure in the US!

I think you are on the right track with the foreign language training, especially if you have hopes of traveling internationally. Also psychology and education are good, and business too. Attending a school with flight attendent training will also provide you with the upper hand when it pertains to landing a job.

Also get as much experience dealing with the public as possible, and keep a good, clean work record, with as few missed days, etc, as you can.

If you don’t have a job dealing with the public already you might consider volunteering somewhere that you can gain more of this skill…not to mention volunteering looks good on any resume, and makes you feel good too! πŸ™‚

Check out the link provided below, if it is not something you have seen before I think you will find it interesting.

Good luck to you! Happy Flying! πŸ™‚

Many universities offer a hospitality management program that appeals to many students interested in the tourism industry.

You might not want to be a flight attendant forever. Their schedule is difficult, especially for people who have children. You may consider majoring in something that you can pursue as a career after you are a flight attendant.

It sounds like you have a real passion for this profession and I wish you the best of luck!

P.S. I do know that language skills are a must if you would like to be placed on international flights!

A flight attendent is basically a waitress. I would suggest that you practice serving cocktails and working on an insincere smile.

I would suggest speech communication – it is a very broad and interesting major that focus’ on relations and communicating and their are emphasis’ in organizational communication – which is basically the communication that occurs within the work environment and organizations.
