Great, I am a pre-med as well, and at was confussed as well.

In today’s competitive world, you CAN’T major in anything and expect to be accepted at a top tier medical school.

Most pre-med students get their bachelors degrees on biology or chemistry(especially to be a doctor/surgeon). A degree on Biology or chemistry, for the most part, require you to take all those classes, but if not, you can take them on your electives.

You can also choose many other bachelors degree like biomedical engineer, engineer of physics, biochemistry, mathematics or physics, as long you take enough science courses. Check what is the requirements for each medical school that you want, since you MUST take some courses at some schools that are not generally require at others. Harvard requires you to take inorganic chemistry, but J. Hopkins university does not.

Interships can be anything to do with medicine (I am leaving you a link at the bottom for biomedical interships). Also, at hospitals around the country.

After you bachelor, you are require to take your MCAT, is just a test.

When you get accepted to medical school, top tier universities (Harvard, Stanford, Princenton) and many others schools don’t require you to declare your major for the first 2 years, so you have plenty of time to test-drive your fields.

First 2 years are mostly classes, last 2 are in your fiweld most of the time. Now, some plastic surgeon require more time to prepare.

Good pre-med are schools are the same( Ivy league) J hopkins and all those.

Hope thi was helpful, I will like to remain in contact with you to see how you are doing, I am on my second pre-med semester.

Majoring in chemistry or biology doesn’t exclude you from taking the other classes. Case in point, my college a Bio major had to take 4 classes in chemistry. Many schools do offer a pre-med major which is essentially a splattering of scientific courses that is supposed to satisfy most medical school requirements.

you can major in anything you want, but still need to take the medical school prerequisite classes (bio, physics, gen chem, orgo and the associated labs). some schools also require an english class and a math class. your major is NOT important, but your science GPA and MCAT scores are VERY VERY VERY important. without a high science GPA and MCAT score you will never get into medical school. you should also invest some time in volunteer activities.

No, you could significant in something which you will like. i be attentive to of a youthful woman that majored in communications in the time of her undergraduate training and he or she is now a third 3 hundred and sixty 5 days scientific student. What concerns is which you nonetheless get the fundamental math and technological know-how classes executed jointly as earning your Bachelor’s degree. that’s accomplished by ability of writing on your regular admission application which you incredibly decide to significant in______, with an emphasis on pre-med and than you will assigned an tutorial consultant at your college that knows the advantageous info of what it takes to get into scientific college and this guy or woman will make it easier to choose on your training to make you suited while it comes time to prepare for med college.

You can major in whatever you want. You’ll have to take a certain set of science and math courses to get into medical school no matter what your major is.

Here are the facts, as reported by the Association of American Medical Colleges (as of 2006):

The only reason the biological sciences are still so weighted is because most students assume that is what is required.
