If I go to a new osteopathic medical school, will it hurt my chances of getting into a residency?

I’m thinking about attending the new D.O. school in Yakima, WA (Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine), because it’s really close to home. After that I’d like to attend a residency program (not sure where yet; I haven’t decided which specialty I’d like to pursue, either). I was wondering if anyone knows whether attending a brand new medical school would hurt my chances of getting into any residencies. For example, would I be excluded from getting a residency at either OHSU (Portland) or UW (Seattle)? I do not want to be limited to being a general practitioner.

I believe you have to attend a specific DO residency program (or at least it has to be an approved program by the AOA. I think you’ll need to contact OHSU and UW directly to get reliable info.

Or, you may want to check out this site: http://opportunities.osteopathic.org/
