At my college, we got a quarter GPA and a cumulative GPA each quarter. The quarter GPA was used for scholarship requirements and honor roll and things like that, but the cumulative GPA is what goes on resumes and graduate school applications.
To calculate your GPA, the points are as follows: A = 4, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3, B- =2.7, C+ = 2.3 and so on. Multiply the number of credits for each class by the number of points, add up all points, and then divide it by the number of credits.
So if you both your classes were 5 credit classes, your GPA would be ((3.7 x 5) + (2.3 x 5)) / (5+5) = 3.0
