ultrasound is a thing – ultrasonagraphy is the study of that technology. You went to school for diagnostic sonography or ultrasound technology. It sounds unimportant to some, but HR people see a distinction here. It’s like saying “I went to school for computers” — that just sounds uneducated to an HR professional and will get a resume or application tossed.

First, have an HR professional read your resume for you and make sure you aren’t making any mistakes that are killing your job prospects.

If you’re confining yourself to the location you’re in then the only thing you can do is apply at the places there that have ultrasound equipment (probably not a lot of choices). If you’re willing to move – there are plenty of jobs around the country for an ultrasonagrapher.

If you’re not ARDMS registered, get registered or at least become a candidate for registration.

When a job listing says “2 years experience preferred” apply anyway. If it says “2 years experience required” then you’re out.

Don’t forget that many small clinics also need a sonographer but not full time – if you have other skills they can use, you’re more marketable to them.

if it’s medical, try looking in s.e. alabama. there are many, many, job offers down there in the medical field.
