what courses should i take in college, what should i major in, what should i do to better prepare myself???

Take Communications courses. Learn about video and audio production. Get yourself hands-on experience doing just that. Build a demo reel/portfolio of any work you do while you’re there. Take writing classes, too. If you’re going to be a correspondent, you’re going to have to write the scripts for your stories.
If your College has a radio station- or even better, TV- get invovled with that. Call letters look great on a resume. Be involved in the community- network.

And don’t hold out for Entertainment Tonight- they probably don’t hire very often. Take what you can get in the meantime. It’ll build your resume up even more and give them more reason to want to hire you.
