Absolutely not. It DOES matter what you have your degree in when you are applying to Med School, which DOES exist. There are classes that you absolutely have to have that other degrees do not require. Once you have found out in the states what classes you have to take that you are missing and you have completed those. You will have to complete 4 years of med school, 4-7 years of residency at a hospital, THEN you will be an official “Doctor.”It is actually a waiting process for the united states to even acknowledge your studies in another country. The other problem is that even in the US you may go to one college and a class is worth 4 credits and at another college that same class is worth 3 credits. You will have to apply to a reputable college in the states and see what will transfer and what you will have to take classes that Pre-med students take that Nursing students don’t have to take, like organic chemistry and such. Good luck .

If you have a BA, then you have a 4 year degree. It doesn’t matter what that degree is in as long as you get a good score on the MCATs. So yes, you should be able to apply to medical school. But it’s not a transfer; you’ll be entering the program at the beginning.

You have to complete the pre-med classes in college, high school classes won’t count. The American Medical College Application Service (the centralized application service 99% of medical schools use) won’t even accept your application without them. Sorry… 🙁

There’s no real “pre-med” school in the US, people just say that they’re pre-med because they are science majors who eventually want to go to med school. I would check with the university’s admissions office to see what their course requirements are, and if you can transfer your african credits to the US school of your choice

Yes you can… just as long as you have taken these courses:

General biology

Physics with lab

General chemistry (inorganic chemistry) with lab

Organic chemistry with lab

Calculus

English

And sign up to take the MCAT!
