I need to make this interesting for you to read it. Hmmmm…let’s see Okay, Why am i a Pathetic loser?

Okay, so need to apply for college.

I want to study law

Which college should I choose

Yale, Harvard, Stanford or Colombia?

How do I pay for it all?

I’ve saved 5,000, my parents gave me 10,000, I took a loan, but how should I repay it?

Oh yeah, Ive been hearing stuff like you have to do something else for 4 yrs, then go to grad school and pick up law. That true?

Don’t get too far ahead of yourself… your choice of colleges might also depend on which ones choose *you*. Even the best grades won’t guarantee you a spot in the schools you mention. Limited enrollments mean these schools will turn down very qualified applicants.

Needless to say, any of these schools has a great reputation for legal studies, so take whichever one you get.

$15K won’t get you horribly far. But your undergrad years give you a little extra time for a part-time job (this is less true in grad school). If your grades are good enough to get into the schools you mention, you might also qualify for a scholarship. Start researching that with a guidance counselor ASAP… it’s never too soon to start applying. Loans will probably always be a part of life as well, but the expectation is that you’ll be able to pay them off once you get that high-paying job practicing law. Fortunately, student loans are relatively low-interest.

The “do something else” advice is mostly correct. Law school is a post-grad endeavor. But there are pre-law courses, internships and organizations that will give you a head start during your undergrad years, and your major could possibly relate to your specific interests (i.e. the type of law you want to focus on). Seek out a good advisor in college right away — if you aren’t assigned a helpful one, ask around until you find someone else. It’s worth it.

I think Harvard is a really good school and if you’re accepted there than you should select it as your first choice then Yale should be the second choice…

You can work during summer, you’ll be able to gain experience and you can repay the loan…

Yes, its true that you have to do get an undergraduate degree before applying to a law school, you can take any course you want, I would recommend economics, political science or business…

Good Luck!!!

Yes! Some law schools admit non-graduates-but, they have to have a much better attitude than yours! Also, at least 2 years of college-usually 3.

Are you even interested n law? Or are you looking for a quick way to make money? You have to have a minimum of 3 years of general college, 3 of law school, then pass the bar exam of the state in which you want to practice.

I think you should seriously consider your career goals. Many a law school graduate has failed to go on to practice. Think…what do you LIKE to do? What do you usually end up talking about to friends? Sports, music…sure, you may not have the talent or even the desire to be up front. But every successful person needs financial advice, management, someone to haul equipment?

Think of what you like…then, think of what went towards making you like it so much? What are you able to do now? What are you interested in learning about? Not every college freshman knows exactly what he/she wants to do in life-but they have a better attitude, are looking forward to the experience. Maybe take a semester off-so, when you go, you’ll have a good time in your classes, and begin to form some realistic career goals.

You have to figure out if you want a subsidized loan or an unsubsidized (you don’t pay interest on the unsubsidized). Apply for scholarships. And yeah, when you do undergrad, you’ll have to take a pre-law major. I guess you go to law school after that. But once you finish your undergrad, your teachers etc. will help you with the next step. For pre-law go to any university that offers it…doesn’t HAVE to be harvard etc. Good luck!
