It depends on what program you are in. If you are doing any hardcore mathematics you probably want a Ti-83 or a Ti-84 graphing calculator. They are made by Texas Instruments and cost about 100$. If you are only taking a few calculus or stats courses the a Ti-30 model will be fine and should only cost about 10-15 dollars. Texas Instruments is probably the best calculator brand out there.

If you are taking calculus or pre-calculus, I would wait until classes start and ask your professor. I would get whatever he/she is using or recommends so you can get help with it. They will likely have a connection on their calculator so they can demonstrate to the class and you might be best served to get the identical one presented so you can learn how to use it easily. If you are not taking upper level mathematics, then a regular scientific calculator should be fine. Make sure it is capable of calculating both log, natural log (e) and square roots. Good luck.

Go to an office supply store (Staple’s, Office Depot, etc.) and look for agraphing calc, TI, HP, Sharp’s or Casio. They are all good. TI is probably the best, but are the most expensive. The TI-83 Platinum has the largest memory.

TI-89 (texas instruments)

It is the most wonderful graphing calculator ever. You can download stats and calc functions, diff eq programs. . . the best thing is that it is so versatile.

Texas instrument (TI-89 titanium), it does integrals, derivatives, Simpson’s rule… you name it and it can do it and you will definitely not regret it. Trust me you will need it for the higher math courses!
